I am so excited to be joining your child on his or her journey through seventh and eighth grade. My name is Ms. Brockhaus, and I will be your child’s math teacher for the 2012-2013 school year.

I have been teaching at Dell Rapids Middle School for the past five years. I have been also given the opportunity to coach the middle school cheerleaders along with middle school quiz bowl.  I am pleased to be back again and can not wait to get to know you and your student on a more personal level.

Prior to teaching in Dell Rapids, I taught at St. Mary's Catholic school in Pine City, MN. I taught a combined classroom which contained both fifth and sixth grade students along with teaching first through sixth grade Spanish. I was also actively involved in the athletic programs at Pine City High School.  I coached both high school volleyball and middle/elementary school softball.  Prior to teaching in Pine City, I taught first grade at Higher Ground Academy, a K-12 Afro-Centric Charter School.

I graduated with a degree in Elementary Education from Northern State University.  Along with my bachelors’ degree, I obtained several endorsements such as middle school math and language arts and also a coaching endorsement.

My philosophy for learning is that each child is unique, and each child learns in a different way. One of my jobs as a teacher is to help your child discover his or her individuality and work alongside him or her to maximize it. I believe in hands-on experiences and learning creatively and look forward to finishing this year with fun–filled and educational activities!
